Borobudur Temple

 

Borobudur is Hindu – Budhist temple. It was build in the nineth century under Sailendra dynasty of ancient Mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.

 

Abandoned in the 11th century and partially excavated by archeologist in the nearly 20th century. Borobudur temple is well-know all over the world. Influenced by the Gupta architecture of India, the temple is constructed on hill 46 m (150 ft) high and consist of eight step-like stone terrace, one on top of the other. The first five terrace are square and surrounded by walls adorned with Buddhist sculpture in the bas relief; the upper are circular, each with a circle of bell-shaped stupas (Buddhist Shrines). The entire edifice is crowned by a large stupa at the centre of the top cycle. The way to the summit extend through some 4,8 km of passages and stairways. The design of Borobudur, a temple mountain symbolizing the structure of the universe, influenced temples built at Angkor, Cambodia.

Borobudur temple which is rededicated as an Indonesian monument in 1983 is a valuable treasure for Indonesian people.

Bond consists of four talented girls: Haylie Ecker, Eos (pronounced Ay-os), Tania Davis, and Gay-Yee Westerhoff. Since their childhood these four girls have been acquainted with music. In Perth, Haylie had her first violin when she was five and showed her virtuosity by playing her nimble finger on it. In Sydney, Tani Davis practiced her first notes on piano and violin. In Cardiff, Wales, Eos, used her first bow as her toy, while in hull, United Kingdom, Gay-Yee learned piano.

Time passed by, and as the four girls grew up, they honed their skill in music and gained degrees in it. Haylie holds a first class degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has already played around the world extensively as the Queen and former Prime Ministers of Australia and Ireland. Tania holds a first class honors degree in music from the Sydney Conservatorium and has just obtained the postgraduate diploma in performance from the college that Haylie went to. Meanwhile, Gay-Yee, who switched her musical instrument from piano to cello, attended Trinity College of Music in London.

Once upon a time there was a fisherman armed with his fishing rod who would make his way every day from his village to the river bank. There he would wait patiently for the fish to bite. This strange routine was much commented in the village. Then one day, a tourist arrived and began to go for daily walks to the river bank. After a few days of watching the lone fisherman, he finally spoke to him.

“And why on earth should I want to wait around here after that ?”

We are indeed living in a period of ‘garbage’, a time when the nation’s condition is getting worse from time to time. It is hard to imagine how this could be get any worse than it is now.
Former Czeschoslovakia president, V’aclav Havel, who has a good image among his people, showed that politics is the will to make people happy. However, politicians nowadays only full of energy when they talk about power, particularly when the issue brings benefits to them. One scandal occurs and another follows either by the same or different actors. Recently, for example. Several newspaper reveal the evidence that many candidates for the provincial legislative bodies have falsified their academic degrees.
We should never retreat from the war against ‘black’ politicians. Therefore, we must say firmly that there will be no compromise with politicians who build theirs careers on a cheat.

Bahasa Indonesia adalah Bahasa Nasional dan Bahasa Negara. Sebagai bahasa nasional, Bahasa Indonesia dipergunakan dalam pergaulan baik resmi maupun tidak resmi. Fungsi ini sangat penting mengingat permasalahan disintegrasi bangsa yang muncul saat ini.  Pemahaman akan pentingnya fungsi bahasa Indonesia sebagai Bahasa Nasional sudah seharusnya ditanamkan pada segenap Bangsa Indonesia agar dapat meminimalisir permasalahan tersebut. Kemampuan berbahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar akan menyatukan citra diri dan cita-cita luhur bangsa kita menjadi bangsa yang arif dan berkebudayaan tinggi sehingga setiap komponen bangsa dapat menghargai satu sama lain. Bagaimanapun Bahasa Indonesia, secara alamiah nya sebagai alat komunikasi bangsa, akan mampu menyatukan ke-bhineka-an suku, budaya, adat istiadat, serta agama yang ada pada Negara kita tercinta ini.  Di sini lah peran penting Bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa nasional.

Menyikapi pentingnya peran bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa nasional, kita mesti sadar bahwa pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia pun menjadi begitu penting sehingga pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dapat menjadi peletakan pokok-pokok penguasaan bahasa sebagai alat komunikasi antar daerah, suku-suku, agama dan kebudayaan yang ada pada negeri ini. Oleh karena itu Kementrian Pendidikan Nasional telah mendesain pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia agar dapat memenuhi tuntutan eksistensi bangsa ini. Standar kompetensi mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia berorientasi pada hakikat pembelajaran bahasa bahwa belajar bahasa adalah belajar berkomunikasi dan belajar sastra adalah belajar menghargai manusia dan nilai-nilai kemanusiaannya (Depdiknas, 2004:2). Dengan demikian, pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia diharapkan dapat menjadi upaya pemersatu langkah dan irama pembangunan manusia Indonesia.
